Privacy and health-data restraint
The site is designed to answer questions without collecting a treatment history. The safest health data is the kind that was never collected.
The design principle is to reduce what is collected until this policy has little left to describe, because dental history is sensitive, durable, and a breach of it cannot be undone by a password reset. The cost, comparison, insurance, financing and planning calculators run entirely in the browser on your device: nothing you enter is uploaded, stored on a server, or tied to an account. You can verify that by disconnecting the network and confirming the calculators still work. The one place the site collects data about you is the optional provider-introduction form, which asks only for contact details, a ZIP code, an interest category, consent and timing, and specifically instructs you not to submit symptoms, diagnoses, medications or insurance identifiers. None of that is needed to make an introduction. Submissions are retained twelve months and then deleted, are handled only by Cloudflare and, with consent, the introduced provider, and are never sold or used for targeted advertising. The site runs no third-party analytics.
What the referral form collects
The optional provider-introduction form is the only place the site collects data about you. It asks for contact details, a ZIP code, a broad interest category, consent, timing, and technical information used to prevent abuse of the form. It specifically instructs you not to submit symptoms, diagnoses, medications, insurance identifiers or any other sensitive detail, because none of that is needed to make an introduction and it would create a record nobody should be holding.
- Contact details, so someone can reply to you
- ZIP code, to identify a plausible geographic match
- A broad interest category, not a diagnosis and not a treatment plan
- Consent and preferred timing
- Technical anti-abuse data associated with the submission
Use and sharing
Contact details submitted through the form may be used to respond to you and, with your consent, to introduce a participating provider. Health-related contact data must not be used for targeted advertising, sold, or shared for any purpose other than the one you consented to. An introduction is not an endorsement and does not create any obligation on you.
Retention, processors and your rights
Provider-introduction form submissions are retained for 12 months from the date of submission and then permanently deleted, unless you ask us to delete them sooner or a longer period is needed to resolve a dispute or complaint you have raised. The only processors that handle submitted data are Cloudflare, which hosts the site, runs the form and delivers the resulting email, and, only where you consent to an introduction, the provider you are introduced to. Data is not sold and is not shared with anyone else.
The site runs no third-party analytics of any kind; nothing you do on the site is tracked by a service other than Cloudflare's own infrastructure logs. If your state gives you a right to access, correct, delete, or opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, email privacy@dentalcarecosts.com naming the state whose law you are relying on. We will respond within the time that law requires. If a breach affecting your data occurs, we will notify you at the contact information you provided within the time the law that applies to you requires, or without unreasonable delay if no specific deadline applies.
Children
The site is written for adults making or supporting a dental decision, including on behalf of a child. The site is not directed at children. The referral form is not intended for submission by a minor. Pediatric content is written for the adult making the decision.
