Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using this site, you agree to these terms in full. If you do not agree to them, do not use the site. These terms apply to every page, tool, calculator and form here, in addition to the specific limits stated on the page itself.

The operator

This site is operated by Aixis LLC, a Vermont limited liability company. "The operator" in these terms means Aixis LLC.

Who can use this site

This site is intended for adults, at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, making or supporting a dental decision, including on behalf of a minor or another dependent. The site is not directed at children. The referral form is not intended for submission by a minor.

Educational use only

Everything published here is general education. It cannot diagnose a condition, determine whether you are a candidate for a treatment, establish urgency, or replace the examination and judgment of a licensed professional who can see your mouth, your radiographs and your history. Where a page describes what a treatment involves, that is a description of the treatment in general, not a recommendation to you. It is fact-checked against the sources it cites, not reviewed by a licensed dental professional: see the clinical review status page.

Emergencies

The site is not monitored and is not an emergency service. Call 911 or your local emergency number for a medical emergency, including difficulty breathing or swallowing, severe uncontrolled bleeding, or major facial trauma. Seek urgent dental or medical care when the warning signs described on a condition page are present. Do not wait on a response from this site. There is not one.

Estimates, calculators and benefits

The calculators perform arithmetic on figures you enter. They contain no hidden price data, no assumed fee schedule and no plan information. Their output is only as good as the numbers put into them. Insurance explanations are general descriptions of how plan mechanics usually work; only your plan and your provider can determine current fees, your eligibility, your benefits and your final patient responsibility. A pretreatment estimate is useful and is still an estimate.

Provider introductions are independent of this site

Where an introduction to a provider is offered, that provider is an independent professional or practice, never this site's employee, agent, partner or joint venturer, and the introduction does not endorse, employ, supervise, credential or guarantee that provider. The introduction does not guarantee an appointment, a treatment, a price or an outcome. Any agreement for care, and the care itself, is entirely between you and the provider, and any dispute over that care, including a billing dispute or a claim of malpractice or negligence, is between you and the provider, not this site.

Verify licensure and credentials independently; the relevant state dental board is the authoritative source and is free to search.

Third-party sources and links

External links point to source material and are not an endorsement of the linked organization, its other publications, or anything it sells. Third-party content is quoted briefly and attributed. Linked sites are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which will differ from these, and this site is not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability.

Content ownership and acceptable use

The original text, structure, research organization and tools on this site are the property of the operator. Brief quotation with attribution and a link is welcome. Wholesale reproduction of records, and reproduction that presents this material as reviewed clinical guidance when the underlying record has not been clinically reviewed, is not permitted. You agree not to misrepresent your identity when submitting a form, not to attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the site, and not to use it to violate any law. Machine-readable exports are published deliberately at /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt for use by language models, with the review status of each section stated in the export itself.

No warranties of any kind

This site, its content and its tools are provided strictly "as is" and "as available," without any warranty of any kind, express or implied: including, without limitation, warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. No statement on this site, by this site's operator, or by anyone associated with it creates a warranty. You use the site, its content and its tools entirely at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law: this site's operator, and its owners, staff and contractors, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or health outcome, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, this site, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Where a limitation like this is not enforceable for a particular claim under the law that applies to you, the operator's total liability for that claim is limited to the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars (USD 100) or the amount, if any, you paid to use the relevant part of the site in the twelve months before the claim arose.

This site is free to use; for most claims, that means the practical cap is one hundred U.S. dollars. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for the operator's own fraud or for a personal injury caused by the operator's own gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

No professional relationship, and assumption of risk

Using this site, including its calculators, its forms and any provider introduction, does not create a dentist-patient relationship, an attorney-client-style relationship, or any other professional or fiduciary relationship between you and this site's operator. You are solely responsible for verifying anything you read here with a licensed professional before acting on it, and you assume all risk of relying on general educational content instead of an individualized professional evaluation.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless this site's operator, and its owners, staff, contractors and any referred provider, from any claim, loss, liability, damage or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to: your violation of these terms; your misuse of the site, its tools or its forms; content or information you submit that is false, misleading or infringing; your violation of any law or of any third party's rights; or your interactions with a provider you were introduced to through this site.

Release of claims about care you receive elsewhere

Because this site does not provide dental care and a referred provider is never its employee or agent, you release this site's operator from any and all claims, demands and damages of any kind arising out of or in any way connected with care, advice, billing or any other interaction you have with a dental provider: whether or not you found that provider through this site.

If a state's law limits the scope of a general release like this one (some require it to say so expressly), you and the operator each intend this release to extend to claims you do not know about or suspect to exist at the time you accept these terms, to the fullest extent the law where you live allows.

Time limit to bring a claim

To the extent the law that applies to you permits it, any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to your use of this site must be filed within one (1) year after the claim or cause of action first could have been asserted, or it is permanently barred, regardless of any longer statute of limitations that would otherwise apply. Some states do not allow shortening a limitations period this way, in which case this section applies only to the extent that state's law allows.

Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Vermont, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the state and federal courts located in Vermont have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the site.

Force majeure

The operator is not responsible for a failure or delay in the site's operation caused by anything reasonably beyond its control, including outages at a hosting or infrastructure provider, internet or power disruptions, acts of government, natural disaster, or other events of a similar kind.

No third-party beneficiaries; assignment

These terms are between you and the operator only. No other person or entity, including a provider you are introduced to, has any right to enforce them. The operator may assign or transfer these terms, including in connection with a sale, merger or transfer of the site; you may not assign your rights or obligations under these terms without the operator's consent.

Entire agreement

These terms, together with the privacy policy and any page-specific notice, are the entire agreement between you and the operator about your use of the site, and replace any earlier understanding about that use. If a provision is found unenforceable, it is narrowed only as much as necessary to make it enforceable and the rest remains in effect; a failure to enforce a provision on one occasion is not a waiver of it.

Changes to these terms and to the site

These terms, and the site itself, may be updated at any time without prior notice. The date a page was last substantially revised is shown on the page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the terms as updated.

What this page is

This is a comprehensive, standard-form set of protective terms, written to minimize the operator's exposure as far as plain, generally-applicable language can. It is not a substitute for review by a licensed attorney in your state. Nothing here is legal advice to you. Two things this page cannot do regardless of wording: waive liability for the operator's own fraud, gross negligence or intentional misconduct, which very few jurisdictions allow a contract to disclaim; and substitute for actual business liability insurance, which protects against claims this document limits but does not prevent from being filed.
