Kaiser Permanente does not have one national dental plan. Some of its medical plans include adult or pediatric dental care, some offer an optional dental plan, and in the regions described here the dental benefit is provided by Delta Dental. In Washington, Delta Dental of Washington provides dental coverage for individual and family plans and for Medicare Advantage members, using the Delta Dental PPO Plus Premier network. In Northern California, an individual Delta Dental plan is underwritten by Kaiser Permanente Insurance Company and administered by Delta Dental of California. Product offerings vary by region, and some dental benefits are included in base medical plans in some regions. Read your plan documents, or call Member Services, to learn what applies to you. Because coverage changes by region, start from the plan documents for your state and confirm the dental benefit by phone before you book anything beyond a routine visit.

Health360 in Washington

A plan feature worth knowing about

Kaiser's Washington page describes a Health360 dental plan with two features unusual in dental coverage. First, the annual maximum steps up for each year you receive preventive dental care from a PPO network dentist, and you can repeat this until you reach the plan's upper limit. Second, patients with qualifying conditions, including heart disease, diabetes and pregnancy, get an extra cleaning and exam each year with a PPO network dentist at no additional charge, and are notified by mail if they qualify. The page does not give the amounts. Read the plan document for them.

These features apply to the Health360 plan named on Kaiser's Washington page. They are not a general rule for other Kaiser Permanente plans.
